Thomas Kalapurakal is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Thomas utilizes an eclectic psychodynamic approach including humanistic and Jungian techniques. Through this process, Thomas guides his clients to reflect on their life experiences and utilize new information to overcome present challenges while staying true to their core identity.

Thomas’ experience as a second-generation Indian-American male strengthened his desire to help other emerging adults achieve their professional and personal goals within the bounds of their cultural and social environment. He specializes in individual counseling for this population. He is dedicated to helping these clients cope with a multitude of mental health issues including generalized anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders. In addition, he helps his clients with relationship and communication problems along with identity-related struggles.

Thomas is also one of Millennium’s Sports and Performance Wellness Division counselors. He helps this group with the very specific challenges of navigating life transitions, managing culture-related identity issues and coping with social expectations.

Authenticity, honesty, and empathy are the values that drive Thomas as a counselor. He believes that by building a strong therapeutic relationship, the client will feel more autonomous, hopeful, and confident in their healing and personal development.
