Stop Chasing the Podium
Key Points: Athlete Performance and Mental Health When self-worth is tied only…
According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), around 30% of women and 25% of men who are elite athletes experience disordered eating, and up to 35% of elite athletes struggle with mental health crises like anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions.
A National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) poll shows that 68% of athletes feel more comfortable discussing mental health concerns now compared to five years ago. However, 35% of athletes feel that their mental health needs are not adequately addressed by their teams or organizations.
A 2021 NCAA survey found that over 80% of college athletes believe that mental health is as important as physical health. This reflects a growing recognition of the need for mental health support within sports.
Our team therapy sessions aim to help teams become better equipped to face challenges, fostering stronger connections and a revitalized sense of purpose. The benefits of these sessions reach beyond the immediate group, positively impacting their overall work environment and relationships outside of the sessions.
Through consultation, we offer both customized and pre-packaged team mental skills workshops. These workshops help athletes mentally prepare for the season, make in-season adjustments, and recover mentally afterward.
We are happy to present and provide information about our services, offer recommendations for supporting athletes in distress, collaborate on programming, and discuss ways to integrate mental health care within your team or organization.
We offer individual sessions focused on mental performance techniques. This will help your athlete in and off the field. We will highlight specialized mental techniques like visualization, positive self-talk, emotional regulation, and mindfulness to improve performance.
One-on-one virtual or in-person therapeutic services to assist in addressing mental health concerns beyond the arena.
