Amelia is an intern at Millennium Counseling Center. She holds a B.A. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling from Mississippi State University and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Counseling from Garrett Theological Seminary. She is training to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Amelia approaches counseling with a firm belief that everyone has a story worth hearing. Amelia works to create a safe environment that allows her and her clients to establish an affirming and authentic therapeutic space. With a client-centered approach and a culturally informed lens, Amelia works to understand a client’s context and desires to meet them where they are in their own journey. Amelia emphasizes the need to understand who we are and how those around us affect the ways in which we see ourselves and the world.

“Celebrating when your plan is working? Anyone can do that. But when you realize that the story of your life could be told a thousand different ways, that you could tell it over and over as a tragedy, but you choose to call it an epic, that’s when you start to learn what celebration is. When what you see in front of you is so far outside of what you dreamed, but you have the belief, the boldness, and the courage to call it beautiful instead of calling it wrong, that’s celebrating” (Shauna Niequist)
