Oren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Denver and a Masters degree in
counseling from DePaul University. After graduating from the University of Denver, Oren spent a number
of years working at a local residential treatment center working with severe mental illness. There, in his role
as both counselor and supervisor, Oren worked in partnership with psychiatrists and the center’s staff in
developing programs and administering the safest and most effective treatment for its clients. Upon
returning to Chicago, Oren enrolled at DePaul University while also working as a crisis trainer and
counselor at a local inpatient hospital. It was during this time that he started to focus his interests on trauma
work and its correlation with many types of addictions.
Oren is currently working towards his CSAT (certified sex addiction therapist) so that he can work with clients struggling with these issues. Oren is keenly aware of how dangerous addiction is and how it can impact not only the addict’s life but the entire family as well. Oren has experience working with many process addictions — sexual compulsivity, eating disorders, financial disorders and compulsive gambling. He also has experience treating chemical dependency.
Other areas of interest and experience include working with children and adolescents. Oren works with younger clients that are struggling with depression, anxiety, alcohol/drug use, failing grades, poor self- esteem and sexual promiscuity. If these issues are left unexamined they can lead to self-destructive behaviors that may develop into lifelong damaging patterns. During these transitional years, it is important that the mind, body and spirit become integrated and connected. Oren’s goal is to make this integration possible and successful by acting as a young person’s advocate and coach.
Oren believes that the cornerstone to an emotionally healthy adult is someone that is not a stranger to his/her emotions.
